The New Orleans Pelicans and combo guard Andrew Harrison have agreed to a two-way contract, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Harrison signed a two-way deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers on November 9, but was waived on December 2. The 24-year-old averaged 4.3 points with the Cavs in 10 games.

Andrew Harrison was drafted by the Phoenix Suns in the 2015 NBA Draft out of the University of Kentucky. He was then traded to the Memphis Grizzlies on draft night. In 129 career games with the Grizzlies, Harrison averaged 7.4 points, 2.1 rebounds and 2.9 assists while shooting 37.8 percent from the field, 30.1 percent from beyond the arc and 77.1 percent from the free-throw line. The Grizzlies waived Harrison in November of 2018.

Harrison is eligible to spend 45 days with the Pelicans before the team must convert him to an NBA deal. New Orleans is without starting point guard Elfrid Payton, who fractured his left pinky in November. Payton is expected to miss six weeks.

The Pelicans are 12-13 on the season, 11th place in the Western Conference. The team is averaging 118.1 points per game, which is second in the NBA. However, New Orleans is giving up 116.7 points per night, 27th in the league. Hopefully Harrison can help the Pelicans on the defensive end with his perimeter defense.
