New Orleans Pelicans owner Gayle Benson, who also owns the New Orleans Saints, has donated $1 million to create the “Gayle Benson Community Assistance Fund.”
This is in response to the Coronavirus situation, which is affecting so many lives in New Orleans, and across the world for that matter:

The NBA suspended play last Wednesday after Utah Jazz All-Star center Rudy Gobert became the first player in the league to test positive for the coronavirus.
On Thursday, it was revealed that Jazz star shooting guard Donovan Mitchell has the virus as well. And this past Saturday, we found out that Detroit Pistons center Christian Wood tested positive, too.
Thus far, no one on the Pelicans has tested positive for the virus. The NBA is expected to be on hold until at least June or July. The CDC recommended that no events of over 50 people should be held for the next two months.
Before the season was suspended, the Pelicans were 28-36. If the season does resume, the Pelicans will be in the 10th spot in the Western Conference standings and 3.5 games back of the Memphis Grizzlies for the 8th and final playoff spot out West.
The NBA is scouting possible arena dates through August. This is still a fluid situation, but it sounds like the NBA really wants to find a way to finish the 2019-20 season once the coronavirus dies down.
Pelicans rookie Zion Williamson recently pledged to pay the salaries of all Smoothie King Center workers for the next 30 days. It was a great move by the youngster.
