Philadelphia 76ers head coach Brett Brown is a huge fan of New Orleans Pelicans shooting guard JJ Redick.

Brown coached Redick for two years in Philadelphia and was sad to see the sharpshooter leave this past summer for the Pelicans via free agency. Brown, though, holds no ill will toward Redick, whom he calls “very unique to the NBA.”

“He only takes a second to get his shot off,” Brown told Nola.com. “It’s unique. He’s very unique to the NBA. We coached Michael Finley back in the day. He can fly off a pin down coming away from the basket, turn face, find the rim, get his shoulders square and make shots at a high level. That’s a really difficult ask.”

JJ Redick is one of the best shooters in NBA history. His constant off-ball movement also makes him one of the toughest players to guard.

With the Pelicans this season, Redick is averaging 15.3 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.9 assists. He's shooting 44.3 percent from the field, 45.2 percent from beyond the arc and 88.2 percent from the free-throw line.

The Pelicans are 11-23 on the season. Redick has made the playoffs every single season of his NBA career, but that streak will most likely get broken this season unless the Pelicans make a miracle turnaround once No. 1 overall pick Zion Williamson returns from his knee surgery.

The Pelicans have won four games in a row. They will look to make it five straight when they take on the Los Angeles Lakers at Staples Center on Friday.
