The New Orleans Pelicans have played the entire season without Zion Williamson. The young power forward fractured his foot ahead of the 2021-2022 NBA season and has suffered countless setbacks in his return.
However, the star has shown signs of progress recently. And, Lee Anderson, Williamson's stepfather, said that he expects his stepson to play before the end of the season.
ESPN reporter Andrew Lopez tweeted the news Tuesday afternoon.
Lee Anderson, Zion Williamson's stepdad, says he expects Williamson to play this season but understands its a decision to be made with the Pelicans' staff.

Lopez's tweet included the link to a more thorough article on Anderson's comments regarding his stepson.
“I expect him to play. If you were to ask Zion, I'm sure he would probably say the same thing…But with just a couple of games left, with the magnitude of what's going on in New Orleans and the opportunity to qualify for the play-in game and possibly get into a seven-game series, that would be off the charts in the city of New Orleans,” Anderson said, quotes courtesy of ESPN. “Do I expect him to play? Certainly, I do. That's on me though. That's purely me. I don't think there's anything else that would hinder him from doing that right now.”
There is an extremely small window of time between now and the end of the regular season. The Pelicans have four games left to prove themselves worthy of the postseason tournament, but it won't be easy. They will face the 55-23 Memphis Grizzlies and 50-29 Golden State Warriors in the final regular-season stretch.
