Is Zion Williamson the successor of Anthony Davis in the New Orleans Pelicans? The Pelicans are hoping for that and more out of their first overall pick from the 2019 draft.
Williamson is set to face off against former Duke teammate R.J. Barrett and the New York Knicks in the NBA's Las Vegas Summer League on Friday evening.
Prior to the tilt, though, Williamson was spotted meeting All-Star forward Anthony Davis.

New Orleans traded Davis before the NBA draft to the Los Angeles Lakers for a king's (James) ransom: Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart and multiple first-round picks, including the fourth overall pick in this year's draft, which NOLA ended up trading away.

Davis joins LeBron James in La La Land, as the Lakers patiently await the decision of two-time Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard. Reportedly it falls between the Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers and Toronto Raptors.
Williamson will be New Orleans' franchise cornerstone for years to come, much like how Davis was since he was drafted first overall by the franchise in 2012.
Davis and the Pelicans only reached the NBA postseason twice during his seven-year stint with the team. Highly coveted by the Lakers' and LeBron, Davis was eventually sent to Los Angeles after demanding a trade midway through the 2018-19 season.
The future might be bright for Zion and New Orleans, although meeting “The Brow” in Vegas might only bring up bad memories for Pelicans fans who don't want to be reminded how the franchise could not build around Davis.
