Lonzo Ball of the New Orleans Pelicans has certainly been a lightning rod for discourse around the NBA and in the sports world at large throughout his relatively short career so far.

What with an attention-seeking father, his own reality show (which also features other members of his family, including his brothers LiAngelo and LaMelo) and formerly his own shoe line with Big Baller Brand, Lonzo has been in the public eye ever since he was drafted #2 overall by the Los Angeles Lakers.

Now, after being traded, it seems that Zo has began to revamp his three-point shooting stroke – which had been widely reviled during his Lakers tenure. The Pelicans posted a video of Zo’s new shooting mechanics during the team’s training camp:

As you can see, Ball’s former shooting form, which saw him bring the ball in a sideways motion from the left side of his head to the right, has been replaced by a far more normal stroke – leading to a steady diet of swishes during practice.

Ball has only made 31.5 percent of his three-pointers during his career, which is definitely an inferior number for a point guard. Far more concerning, however, is his putrid 43.7 percent showing from the charity stripe.

Such a low number for a point guard showcases his complete lack of feel on his jumper, which is certainly concerning for a guard – a position that relies on spacing and being able to knife into the paint and get to the rim looking to score or pass.

If that video was any indication, the Pelicans just might be getting the best version of Ball next season.
