Former Cleveland Cavaliers star Austin Carr had some choice words about the New York Knicks roster prior to the Sunday night matchup between the Cavs and Knicks.
Carr told Joe Vardon of The Athletic that New York's roster is comprised of “rejects” from other teams.

Carr spent the first nine seasons of his career in Cleveland, making the All-Star team in 1974 and scoring over 20 points per game in each of his first three seasons in the league. Carr himself has never been rejected by the Cavs faithful, who have since deemed him “Mr. Cavalier.”

While it is true that the Knicks have some journeyman players like Taj Gibson and Elfrid Payton, it is probably unfair to categorize those players as “rejects.” Guys like Dennis Smith Jr. came to New York as part of the Kristaps Porzingis trade, and the Knickerbockers signed Julius Randle as their marquee free agent.
Perhaps a more accurate categorization, considering the events of this summer, is that superstar players are the ones rejecting the James Dolan-owned franchise. Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving spurned New York to team up in Brooklyn, and the Knicks struck out on signing a max-level player.
The Knicks are also the same franchise that escorted one of their own legends — Charles Oakley — out of Madison Square Garden. Dolan's ownership group has drawn the ire of New Yorkers everywhere.
However, there are recent reports that the Blue Harbour Group may be preparing a major offer to buy stake in both the Knicks and the New York Rangers.
