One thing that's noticeable about the New York Knicks' revamped roster is that most of their players ostensibly play the same position: Power forward. However, according to head coach David Fizdale, that size could be a strength of the team, especially when combined with entrenched young core members Kevin Knox, Mitchell Robinson and #3 overall pick R.J. Barrett.

“When you start talking about Kevin Knox and Marcus Morris at the small forward, right there that makes you pretty big. You can see the pecking order down the line,” Fizdale told SNY’s Ian Begley during Knicks training camp. “I can put a lot of different guys on the floor. I can play Bobby (Portis) and Mitchell (Robinson) together with Marcus Morris, that's a really big lineup. And RJ Barrett is no small guy at the two or three either. Frank and Elfrid are big guards. Dennis may not be as big as them, but he can touch higher on the backboard than the rest of them. I really like the fact we have that size and length and now it's just making sure that we use it appropriately.”

The Knicks were long rumored to be the landing spot for any number of marquee free agents during the offseason. However, as Kawhi Leonard, Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and Kemba Walker all opted to sign elsewhere, the Knicks were left with a glut of cap space and no big names to spend it on.

Instead, the team opted to sign shorter-term deals to a blend of savvy veterans and talented younger players such as Bobby Portis, Julius Randle, Marcus Morris, Elfrid Payton, and Taj Gibson.
