The New York Knicks felt the brunt of a massive embarrassment when Fox Sports 1 paid for ads to decorate New York's subways with a two-sided opinion on the franchise. Notably, the eye was immediately drawn to the “hopeless” portion of the transportation medium with comments like the movie “Eddie” being the best thing to happen to the city in 25 years.

A Western Conference scout seems to think otherwise, claiming there is indeed a fix for this franchise that has been mired in misery for the past two decades.

“The Knicks are not hopeless,” the scout said when posed the question, according to Bleacher Report's Yaron Weitzman. “One or two quality additions can make an impact.”

New York got rid of their highest-profile star in Carmelo Anthony less than two weeks ago, getting Enes Kanter and Doug McDermott in return, once again failing to upgrade the defensive side of the ball.

The Knicks remain stagnant and are projected to be a bottom of the barrel team once again, perhaps even worse than last year after taking a 20-point-plus perennial scorer out of the starting lineup.

While a couple of key additions could make a world of difference, the Knicks are in no position to do so after their continued practice of massively overpaying for their stars in the span of the last few years.

“I don’t think they’re hopeless,” said an Eastern Conference front office staffer. “They’re clearly punting this season. They have no cap room this summer, but they could have max room in 2019 if they stretch Noah and are able to get off Lee.”

Now that is a plan that is worthy of execution; but it is yet to be seen if this new Knicks brass of Steve Mills and Scott Perry is capable of making these type of decisions when they count and hold themselves from overpaying for assets that might not bring the rewards desired.
