There is never a dull moment with New York Knicks center Enes Kanter, and his appearance in Wednesday afternoon during ESPN's The Jump wasn't any different.
The Turkish international has had a change of heart after beefing with Kevin Durant for the past two seasons since he chose to leave the Oklahoma City Thunder to sign with the Golden State Warriors, letting bygones be bygones and now looking to write a different chapter in their relationship.
“For the first time ever… I'm gonna go all the way around — I respect the guy because he won two championships, two [Finals] MVPs, free agent next year,” said Enes Kanter. “You know what? No more beef with you, brother. Let's try to get you to New York.”
Kanter's recruiting wagon has never been short of passengers, but players have often come down before reaching his desired destination.
The 6-foot-11 center previously pulled a similar stunt, trying to recruit LeBron James in free agency after going face-to-face with the man during the regular season and exchanging post-game media pleasantries, questioning James' self-given title of King of New York.
Early in the offseason, Kanter challenged James to prove he is indeed the King of New York by joining the Knicks — a rather futile attempt, as we know it.
Durant does stand a potential chance to wind up in The Big Apple, as his managed Rich Kleiman is a New York native and has ties to several people in the organization.
