Russell Westbrook was every bit the MVP-caliber friend as he has been a player this season, offering his help to Oklahoma City Thunder teammate Enes Kanter, who was detained at a Romanian airport last weekend due to a cancelation of his Turkish passport.

“Let me know what I can do,” said Westbrook in a text message, according to a self-written piece by Kanter in The Players' Tribune.

“That is Russ,” Kanter wrote of the text.

The All-Star dynamo also sent him a hashtag #FreeEnes, which trended on Twitter during the time he was detained, until he was allowed to continue his travel back to the United States.

Despite the endless rumors of Kanter's value on the power forward/center market this offseason, Westbrook seems to want him to stay and has been as loyal a friend as they get.

It seems like those Stache Bros MVP-campaign videos have paid off after all.
