Despite a turbulent season thus for Oklahoma City Thunder stud Russell Westbrook, team head coach Billy Donovan has not lost one bit of confidence in his cornerstone superstar. According to the 53-year-old coach, he is not losing any sleep in what many people perceive to be a roller coaster of a season from Westbrook.
“Whatever it is he's going through,” Donovan said, per Royce Young of ESPN. “when I say I don't worry about it, I don't worry about it.”
Given that we're nearing the halfway point of the season, there are some who are beginning to feel concerned about Westbrook's troublesome year. Well, coach Donovan is obviously not one of those people.
For some context, Westbrook is currently averaging 21.0 points per game this season. This is a considerable dip from his production last year (25.4 points per game) and a huge drop from his MVP year the previous season (31.6 points per game).
Nonetheless, Westbrook is still averaging a triple-double with 10.7 rebounds and 10.1 assists. Perhaps we've just gotten so used to it, that we forget how truly impressive this feat is. Moreover, the 30-year-old is also averaging a career-high 2.8 steals per contest, so this alone speaks volumes of Westbrook's defensive prowess.

It is worth noting though, that he is shooting 62.1 percent from the charity stripe on 5.5 attempts per night. He is a career 80.8-percent shooter from the line, so this is undeniably a huge step back for Westbrook.
The most important thing, however, is the fact that the Thunder still occupy the third spot in an overly-competitive Western Conference with a 23-13 record.
Westbrook may be struggling a bit this year, but he's too good to not get out of this funk.
