It’s no secret that the Orlando Magic are once again looking like a team that will miss out on the playoffs this season. They currently own a 13-31 record, good for 14th in the East and are eight games out of the last seed in their conference. That said, it has led to a lot of speculation that their front office could opt for a full rebuild and that some of their players have already asked to be moved.

One of them is Evan Fournier, who could be a key piece for any playoff-bound team. His ability to score in different ways, including his efficient three-point shooting will be a boost for an up-and-coming team or contender. However, he made it clear recently that he has not asked their front office for a trade. He also said, via Josh Robbins of the Orlando Sentinel, that he is not allowing all the trade rumors to affect him and that he remains focused on trying to win as many games for the Magic.

“I’m not going to think about what’s going to happen or where I would enjoy playing or something, because it’s all speculation,” Fournier said.

“That’s why I really don’t read this stuff: because you never know what’s going to happen. I got traded once and I had no idea. It really came out of nowhere. There was no rumors. There was nothing. And out of the blue I woke up one morning and I got traded. So I know this is just all talk. You really don’t know what’s going on upstairs [in front offices], so it really don’t matter, honestly. You’ve just got to focus on what you have to do, really. The rest is speculation.”

This only proves that the French international is treating the situation like a true professional. Now in his sixth season in the league, he has a deeper understanding of how the business side of the NBA works and will just allow things to take its natural course. He is open to whatever the future has in store for him which also goes to show how high his maturity level is.

Through 36 games this season, Fournier is playing solid basketball with career-high averages of 18.0 points and 3.2 rebounds, to go along with 2.9 assists in 32.6 minutes per game. It is still unclear if the Magic are willing to part ways with him, but one thing that’s certain is that he’ll receive a lot of interest from teams around the league before the trade deadline and that the Magic’s moves by then will reveal what their plans are moving forward.
