The Philadelphia 76ers' ongoing search for a new general manager will not include an interview with Arturas Karnisovas, according to Keith Pompey of the Philly Inquirer. The Denver Nuggets GM had an interview schedule but decided to turn down the opportunity.

The Sixers are a great situation to join as a GM given the presence of two young superstars who haven't yet reached their full potential in Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons. A weaker Eastern Conference that is up for grabs between a few teams is also attractive, plus Philly has some cap flexibility moving forward. These three reasons alone should be enough reason to drum up interest in the position.

But Karnisovas seems to prefer his current position in Denver. The Nuggets, despite missing the playoffs last season, are poised to take a giant step forward this year. Nikola Jokic is blossoming into one of the best centers in the league, while Jamal Murray had a breakout year in his second season.

Not to mention the Nuggets snagged potential superstar Michael Porter Jr. in the draft. Of course, Porter comes with serious medical questions, but if he develops into the player people always thought he would, Karnisovas got a steal at pick No. 14.

There could be any number of reasons for Karnisovas' decision to pass on an interview with Philadelphia. We may never know exactly what the reason was.

But we do know Karnisovas is building what looks to be a dangerous team out West, so perhaps he just wants to see it through. Whatever the reason, Philly's search for a new GM continues.
