Philadelphia 76ers big man Al Horford will in fact play on Sunday night against the Brooklyn Nets, according to Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer:

Pompey had previously reported that Horford was questionable due knee and hamstring soreness, but it appears that the veteran felt good enough during pregame warmups to give it a go.

Horford has fit right in with the Sixers. He is averaging 13.8 points, 6.8 rebounds and 3.9 assists through his first 23 games. Horford is also shooting close to 37 percent from beyond the arc, and he and Joel Embiid form one of the most imposing defensive frontcourts in the NBA.

Offensively, Horford offers the Sixers more inside-out versatility while also being a competent orchestrator and ball handler. He frequently acted as a point man during his days with the Boston Celtics.

Much was made of Philly's decision to sign Horford to a four-year, $109 million contract this past summer. Although Horford has been one of the most well-rounded bigs in the NBA for some time, there were question marks as to how he would fit with a roster that already had plenty of size. Of course, Horford's ability to step out on the perimeter afforded the Sixers with an opportunity to fill multiple holes.

The results have been superb for Philadelphia. The Sixers are second in the Eastern Conference entering play on Sunday, and they have won nine of their last 10 games.

Philadelphia will look to stay hot as they take on a Nets squad that remains without Kyrie Irving.
