Former NBA star and current head coach Chauncey Billups has high praise for Philadelphia 76ers guard, Tyrese Maxey.

“I think he's in a great situation, to be honest with you,” Billups explained. “To be able to learn from a guy like Doc, Sam Cassell on that staff over there. He's in a great position. You got a big guy like Joel who can take a lot of pressure off of you. You don't have to make every play, let him do it, and you just feed off of him.”

With Ben Simmons out of the lineup for the first seven games of the 2021-2022 NBA season for the 76ers. Tyrese Maxey has been able to get an opportunity to play point guard and show off his skills. Despite being in his second year, the former University of Kentucky standout has proven that he belongs in the starting lineup for the Sixers. Maxey has averaged 14 points per game and four assists while shooting almost 50% from the field.

Philadelphia will need Maxey to step up as it doesn't seem like Ben Simmons is going to make a return anytime soon. Philadelphia might get a point guard back in return for Simmons but until then Maxey needs to continue taking advantage of his opportunities. Philadelphia was without Ben Simmons, Tobias Harris, and Joel Embiid but they were able to come away with an impressive 113 – 103 win against the Trail Blazers.
