When James Harden was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers, there were concerns about his fit alongside second-year guard Tyrese Maxey. The general consensus is that Maxey will regress alongside The Beard, especially because of Harden's need to have the ball in his hands to be effective and dominate.

However, contrary to those beliefs, Harden believes he and Maxey complement each other. While he did not elaborate how so, he mentioned the Sixers youngster's aggressiveness and pace to be key traits that he likes.

“You love that young, turnt energy that he has. He’s getting more comfortable. He’s being ultra-aggressive. He’s making the right reads. I can’t wait to have that pace. I feel like we can complement each other,” Harden said of the Sixers playmaker, per team reporter Lauren Rose.

Tyrese Maxey perfectly filled the void left by Ben Simmons' absence in playmaking and scoring. While he is not the defender that Simmons is, the 21-year-old Maxey has more than made up for it as he increased his season averages to 16.9 points, 3.5 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game.

James Harden's partnership with Maxey has yet to be truly tested, with the former still sidelined for the Sixers due to a hamstring issue. Nonetheless, his comments are certainly interesting given the early doubts they received.

The Sixers have championship aspirations, and Harden and Maxey's chemistry will be vital if they want to achieve that goal.
