Heading into this upcoming season, there is a growing sense of optimism around the outlook for the Philadelphia 76ers.
A huge bulk of this lies on the shoulders of big man Joel Embiid, who looked completely loose and comfortable during an open practice over the weekend as he danced on the court.

The 23-year-old has quickly become a fan favorite behind his strong play on the court and bubbly personality to go along with that. Granted, he did suffer another injury that prematurely ended his year last season but there is much strong faith that he can become the long-term face of the franchise.
Embiid has been taking progressive steps back from the injury as he's now participating in practice in half-court 5-on-5 scrimmages but has yet to play in that same format in a full-court setting. There isn't an immediate timetable for his exact return date, but he appears to be getting much closer to being back on the court at some point over the next few weeks.
The 76ers will likely take the precautionary route with Embiid given the nature of the left knee surgery to repair a torn meniscus. All of this building buzz around him will soon enough see Embiid back in the mix leading the charge for a young and upcoming team.
