Sixers star Joel Embiid's Flagrant 1 foul against Nets center Jarrett Allen will not be upgraded to a Flagrant 2 upon league review, according to ESPN's Tim Bontemps.

Embiid landed a vicious elbow to Allen's neck area with only seconds left in the first half, a play which could have landed the Philadelphia 76ers center an early shower as his team held tightly to a one-point lead.

The league allows for a total of seven technical fouls or four flagrant “points” before a player is assessed a one-game suspension, which puts Embiid three points shy of a potential suspension as it stands. Most memorably, Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green was suspended for Game 5 of the NBA Finals after committing his third flagrant foul (and fourth flagrant point) of the postseason by striking LeBron James in the groin.

The Sixers center was apologetic in his postgame press conference, yet the constant giggling by teammate Ben Simmons came across as if the apology was insincere.

Allen, who fell to the hardwood after receiving the blow from the 7-foot center, said he didn't think there was any ill intent, but that it was a rather hard, decisive playoff move as Embiid spun into his body.

The Sixers would go on to have a heated halftime discussion with coach Brett Brown, which eventually evolved into a record-setting 51-point third quarter, giving Philly a 29-point lead moving forward and ultimately evening the series at 1-1 with a 145-123 win.
