With a depleted lineup suiting up for the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday night against an equally undermanned Miami Heat, Joel Embiid came up huge in the clutch to help the Sixers escape with an overtime win, 137-134.
Embiid did get some help from his teammates and, as it seems, from the officials as he got away with one of the worst non-calls this season so far.
Late in regulation with the Heat up by two points, the 26-year-old big man was in no man's land as he tried to dribble away from a double team. As he tried to escape rookie Gabe Vincent's defense, Embiid pulled off one heck of a crossover to fool everyone, including all three referees.
Refs missed this obvious carry by Joel Embiid and the Sixers regained possession 😱

Instead of a carry, a blocking foul was called on Kelly Olynyk as he met Embiid along the sideline. The possession stayed with the Sixers and Embiid knocked down a crucial jumper to force OT.
To make matters worse, the play happened inches away from Heat coach Erik Spoelstra and the rest of the squad who were all up in arms after the awful non-call.
Sans the dribbling error, Joel Embiid had a monster evening, finishing with a season-high of 45 points, 16 rebounds, four assists, and five steals, making him the first NBA player since the 1983-1984 season to tally such numbers.
Other Sixers also stepped up with Danny Green tying the franchise record with nine three-pointers and ended with 29 points, while rookie guards Isaiah Joe and Dakota Mathias also stepped up down the stretch to help them improve to 8-4.
