We're still waiting for Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid to officially play in a back-to-back.
Embiid has already played in more games this season than last year, 39-31, and it's been enough to earn him a spot starting in this month's All-Star Game. In fact, Embiid will be very busy for All-Star Weekend also competing in the Rising Stars Challenge as well as the Skills Challenge on Saturday night.
So that's three straight nights of some kind of action for Embiid, something fans don't get to see during the regular season.
Joel Embiid, a tremendous talent who doesn’t practice or play in back-to-back games, is apparently supposed to take part in The Rising Stars Challenge, Skills Challenge and All-Star Game in 48 hours.

Of course, this is really just Mahoney having fun with this tweet. We all are very aware of the level of intensity during All-Star Weekend competitions. It's not exactly the equivalent of playing two regular season games although it looks like Embiid may finally start playing in back-to-backs this weekend.
Brown said he still plans for Embiid to play in the back-to-back tomorrow.

In fact, that lack of competitiveness led to a change for All-Star Weekend this year, with the teams being decided by a draft by LeBron James and Stephen Curry to hopefully increase the intensity of the main event Sunday night. Embiid will be on Team Steph and he is probably the most likely player to really bring it in the game as we all expect Embiid to want to go at as many All-Stars as possible in the game.
It will be interesting to see how hard and how much Embiid plays on Friday and Sunday night. Knowing his personality, we can expect a lot from him and it will hopefully lead to a more entertaining weekend for NBA fans.
