The Philadelphia 76ers might have to express gratitude to Austin Rivers and his family for sparing them from another intense scolding from coach Doc Rivers after they narrowly escaped with a 101-100 win over the New York Knicks on Sunday. The Sixers even needed five extra OT minutes to make sure they left the Madison Square Garden with a win, avoiding a potential rough locker room session with the fiery Rivers.

Rivers, though, was pretty chill despite the close call. He said it was a good thing that they were in New York and he had a chance to see his son Austin and his growing family (via Derek Bodner of The Athletic).

Austin, who's playing his first season with the Knicks, currently resides in New York with his partner Audreyana Michelle. Just a few days ago, Audreyana gave birth to Reign Rivers, Doc's newest grandchild. A grandfather's love conquers all, right?

Baby Reign's cute cheeks definitely saved the Sixers what could've been an hour-long scolding from Grandpa Doc. The entire squad was sloppy and couldn't get it going against the Knicks. Fortunately, Shake Milton, who came off the bench, stepped up once again, scoring a team-high 21 points, picking up the slack for Tobias Harris and Ben Simmons who only combined for 37 points. A win is a win, though and the Sixers will be more than happy with this one.

The Knicks were once again without Austin who's been out since the middle of February. They did have their All-Star in Julius Randle who forced OT with a clutch three-point bucket. He ended up leading the Knicks with 24 points and seven boards in a losing effort against the Sixers.
