Tobias Harris stepped up when the Philadelphia 76ers needed him most, and head coach Doc Rivers couldn't be happier as the Sixers star showed what he is truly capable of.
After leading the Sixers to a pivotal 104-99 Game 6 win to force a do-or-die against the Atlanta Hawks, Harris got an interesting comparison from Rivers. According to the champion tactician, he is seeing a lot of Bernard King in Harris, which is also the reason why he is calling him that name more often than not.
Simply put, Harris has King in his game and Rivers believes his forward can be that type of star player.
“I keep telling him, Bernard King. I don’t know how many more times I can use that name to him because that’s who he plays like, and that’s who we want him to be,” Rivers said of Harris, via Michael Scotto of Hoops Hype.
Tobias Harris banked 24 points in Game 6 to power the Sixers to victory, so Doc Rivers' hyped reaction is understandable. Moreover, it is true that Harris has shown flashes of an All-Star player like Bernard King was during his heydays with the New York Knicks.

However, consistency is truly the 28-year-old's biggest enemy. After all, in Game 5 that saw the Sixers blow a 22-point halftime lead, Harris scored just four points on 2-of-11 shooting (including 0-of-3 from beyond the arc).
For what it's worth, Harris also addressed the said horrendous display after Friday's match.
“We were flowing through other guys and honestly there just weren't that many looks there for me in the course of the game, and I’m not going to disrupt the teams rhythm by trying to force during the game,” the Sixers vet shared, per Sean Bernard of Philadelphia Sports Network.
It remains to be seen of Tobias Harris can live up to expectations, but it is clear he has Doc Rivers' trust.
