Rumors as of late have penciled the Los Angeles Lakers and Cleveland Cavaliers as the only two teams with a serious chance at LeBron James this offseason. Meanwhile, the Philadelphia 76ers have been relegated to the background after being touted as a frontrunner themselves a couple of months ago — but don't tell that to Sixers star Joel Embiid.

Speaking to USA TODAY Sports, the All-Star center had a strong message to James in hopes of convincing him to play for the city of Philadelphia.

” I want to be a champion.”

Embiid is one of the top young players in the league today, but he understands how his team skyrocketed its development and that a superstar of James' caliber would further boost their already-exponential rise. The Sixers have the pieces and the assets to lure the four-time Most Valuable Player.

“The process worked out pretty well, we got 50 wins last year, we got a lot of talented players on the team. We feel like adding another piece of his caliber is going to help us.”

James has yet to decide on whether to opt out of his deal or exercise his player option worth a staggering $35 million. He's sure to demand a hefty price, not just for himself but also considering the possibility of another star of James' liking joining him.

Whichever team he chooses will most likely be the one where he spends the final years of his Hall-of-Fame career. That equates to a huge sum of money over an extended period. But after seeing James play 82 games in the recent regular season at his age and on his 15th season, he promises to be a very good investment for one lucky team.
