Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid appeared on ESPN's The Jump with Rachel Nichols and Stephen Jackson to discuss the upcoming season. But the segment took an interesting turn when Jackson began holding up pictures of different players to get his thoughts on his biggest rivals. When Jackson held up a picture of Phoenix Suns rookie, Deandre Ayton, the Sixers big man didn't hold back his reaction.
"He's about to get his ass kicked this year âŚ" @JoelEmbiid joined The Jump to talk about the upcoming NBA season and the comparisons to him and the No. 1 overall pick, @DeandreAyton. pic.twitter.com/uj1W8mBM0Q

Article Continues BelowâHe's about to get his aâ kicked this yearâŚNo I kinda, you know, I was listening, I was watching the draft. I kind of felt disrespected so you know, I don't know, I think he was, I don't wanna say the name but Chauncey. He's supposed to be a GM, but he was comparing and I can see the comparison because of the potential. He's going to be good, but when you talk about he looks like Joel Embiid, I play on both sides of the court. I think I'm a good offensive player and good defensive player and I do it on both ends of the floor. I watched him play and he's got a lot of work to do but he's got a lot of potential. He's gonna be really goodâŚI'm not upset, I'm more mad at Chauncey for not doing his research.â
Embiid's trash-talking prowess is well known, but a lot of it is tongue and cheek. He speaks highly of Ayton here and knows that the Suns' new big man has the potential to be a star. But the Sixers center also knows how to rile people up and he knows how to drop a great quote.
The two bigs will square off for the first time on Nov. 19 in Philadelphia.
