When the free agency period begins in next few days, things will hit a frenzy around the league with teams looking to speak with the top available players on the open market.

One of those free agents is All-Star forward Blake Griffin, who is set to become an unrestricted free agent putting him in position to explore his various options aside from the Los Angeles Clippers. In light of that, Brad Turner of the LA Times is reporting that Griffin has already scheduled a meeting with the Phoenix Suns.

The Suns are the latest to join the expected fray as one of the many teams that will have the ability to offer Griffin a lucrative long-term deal. This could be an interesting fit for the 28-year-old playing alongside a promising backcourt in former Clippers teammate Eric Bledsoe and rising star Devin Booker while the frontcourt would feature himself alongside rookie Josh Jackson and veteran big man Tyson Chandler.

If Griffin is willing to grow alongside the Suns' current core group, it has the chance to develop into a playoff team in the Western Conference. However, if he's hoping to immediately compete for an NBA title landing with the Boston Celtics could be his most ideal spot while the Miami Heat and Oklahoma City Thunder each present unique situations.

Meanwhile, the Clippers hold the upper hand of being able to offer Griffin a max contract of five years for $175 million. The organization may be inclined to do so considering they'd be left without a star with the departure of Chris Paul to the Houston Rockets earlier this week.
