Devin Booker will be playing in the first playoffs Game 7 of his career on Sunday against the Dallas Mavericks. Instead of letting the pressure get into him, however, the Phoenix Suns star is relishing the opportunity.
Booker knows that Game 7 in the playoffs is a different beast. It is a do-or-die situation, and any mistake could spell the end for their championship hopes. However, the Suns guard firmly believes they have something special and are more than capable of delivering a positive result.
“I like coming in here with everybody locked in, top to bottom from the front office looking through the windows — you can feel their demeanor,” Booker said following Saturday's practice, per ESPN. “That's why we play the sport. We thought we had something going there [in terms of pressure] during the regular season, trying to break the franchise record [in wins], and this is a whole different beast.”
Devin Booker is thankful that they will be playing at home, though. The Suns haven't won against the Mavs on the road in the series, and with the high-pressure situation that Game 7 brings, they couldn't ask for a better venue to play than where they are most comfortable at.

“If you just look at the history of the league, home-court advantage, it's a real saying,” Booker added. “It's always tough to win on the road. I think just the comfortability of playing [41] games here rather than two on the road and just playing in front of our fans. I'm sure it's going to be rowdy in there. It's going to be exciting, it's going to be a lot of energy. So, I'm looking forward to it.”
The Suns have every reason to be confident. Aside from home-court advantage, they have dominated the Mavs in their games at home in the series–with the last one ending in a 110-80 win in their favor.
Sure enough, Book and Co. will be hoping for the same performance on Sunday night.
