The Devin Booker-Chris Paul partnership has gone swimmingly in Year 1, with the Phoenix Suns reaching the NBA Finals for the first time since 1993 courtesy of their Game 6 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday night. Booker knew from the start that he and CP3 could make magic together after last offseason's trade, and he even hearkened back to his childhood as a reason why he knew this was meant to be.

So CP3 is stamped in this game forever. Just watching the games since I was 8 years old, since he’s been in the NBA, and just being a straight fan to start.
“Me and my friends would be talking about, like when Chris would leave the house or something, you know I would say, ‘That’s CP3.’ Every time he leaves, ‘That’s CP3, that’s CP3.’ So it’s kind of strange that just growing up, like literally being a fanboy of him and now being right next to him in the backcourt, it’s just crazy how life comes full circle. But I’m blessed, blessed to be in this position.”
So, yeah, Devin Booker was a full-blown CP3 “fanboy” growing up as a kid, and he's certainly not afraid to admit that now. Paul was still at Wake Forest when Booker was 8 years old, and Book developed a huge basketball crush on the Point God then and there. The Suns shooting guard then followed Paul's NBA career closely and wore his shoes in high school.
Now, all this time later, Booker and Paul are going to the NBA Finals together as teammates. CP3 delivered the knockout blow in Game 6 with 41 points, while Booker had a solid all-around game with 22 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Both star guards will be in the NBA Finals for the first time, and this seems to be fitting given how much Book idolized CP3 as a kid.
