There's no doubt that Phoenix Suns star Devin Booker will be playing in some of the most important games of his career throughout this NBA Finals against the Milwaukee Bucks. By his own admission, however, it is clear that the All-Star shooting guard also has other basketball dreams that go beyond winning his first career championship.
According to Booker, he remains steadfast in his commitment to Team USA as the squad gets set to represent the country for the upcoming Olympic Games in Tokyo:
“Next [plane] smoking. I'll be there,” said the Suns guard, via Dave McMenamin of ESPN. “I'll be there. But obviously not my main focus right now. I've reached out to Coach Pop [Gregg Popovich], I reached out to [Jerry] Colangelo just recently and then I told them I saw all the guys reported to Vegas, and any other place I would rather be is the Finals, but I would love to be there with the guys and I'll be there soon.”
Booker is clearly focused on the task at hand right now, but he has also confirmed that he will be flying out to join the national squad as soon as the NBA Finals ends. The latest the series could end would be on July 22. Team USA's first game in the Olympics is on July 25, which gives Booker an extremely tight window. Nevertheless, the Suns star confirmed that he won't let anything stop him from taking part in what he considers to be a “life goal”:

So to be a part of representing your country I think brings you to a whole another stratosphere. Just thinking of the guys that have come before us and represented our country, and I don't think there's anything better than winning a gold medal.”
The good news here is that Booker is just 22. He clearly has a lot of gas in the tank and he should be more than capable of making a significant impact for Team USA right after a grueling season. He's hoping, however, that he joins the national squad as a newly-crowned NBA champ.
