Devin Booker and the Phoenix Suns got torched on Sunday night against the Brooklyn Nets. It was Kevin Durant, coming back from injury, who led the way for the home squad with 33 points while his partner-in-crime Kyrie Irving dropped a 34-piece.
It was an end-to-end game but the Suns couldn't match the Nets' energy down the stretch and ultimately fell short to a resounding 128-119 loss in downtown Brooklyn.
“It was a dogfight,” Booker said after the Suns lost (via Gerald Bourguet of The Step Back). “Obviously they're a very talented team that's playing very well.”

With the win over the Suns, the Nets have now taken over the East and their 41-20 record puts them a game and a half away from the Philadelphia 76ers. The scary part is, Brooklyn has done this with their leading assists guy James Harden still out.

The Suns knew that this was going to be one heck of a road trip as they were set to take on the top dogs of the Eastern Conference. They got off to a great start winning back-to-back against the Sixers and the Milwaukee Bucks but eventually lost to the Boston Celtics prior to dropping another L against the Nets.
According to Booker, the entire Suns team is trying to look past these last few games and focus on getting a much-needed win on Monday against another playoff contender, the New York Knicks.
Book said that the last thing said in the Suns locker room is that they can still close out the road trip with a winning record. Their focus is on taking care of business tomorrow

Despite the loss, the Suns are still just a couple of games away from the league-leading Utah Jazz squad. If Booker and company can lock in and go on full-Bubble mode, then grabbing the first seed in the West come playoff time will definitely be possible.
