Following a couple of poor outings, Portland Trail Blazers superstar Damian Lillard bounced back on Friday night in a big win over the Los Angeles Clippers. Dame dropped 25 points and dished out six assists while draining 5 of 7 attempts from downtown. Lillard had the perfect reaction to his performance post-game. Via Sean Highkin:
Damian Lillard on breaking out of his slump: “I’ve been around long enough to know it’s part of the game. I’ve had stretches where I scored 50 points a game for 4 games. You can’t enjoy that without also knowing that when shit goes south, that’s also part of the game.”

That's certainly a great mindset to have. While the Blazers guard isn't dropping 30+ on a regular basis quite yet, he realizes there are going to be ups and downs in the course of a season. After all, we're just five games into the campaign, anyway.
Lillard is averaging just 19.2 points so far, but he has been Portland's best playmaker, dishing out 7.6 dimes per night. It was a busy summer for the veteran after winning gold in Tokyo and maybe it's just taking more time than usual to get his feet under him.
The Blazers got revenge on Friday against LA, despite a 42-point night from Paul George. Chauncey Billups' squad lost by 20 to the Clips on Monday night. Portland now sits at 3-2 on the year ahead of a matchup with LaMelo Ball and the Charlotte Hornets on Sunday. Hopefully, Lillard can put together another impressive performance and continue to shoot the ball efficiently.
