Portland Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard went on a fiery tirade against the fake news spreading involving his name.
Lillard has been making headlines as of late amid questions about his future in Portland. Aside from trade rumors, there were also discussions that he would opt to stay with the Blazers and seek for a huge payday.
Of course Lillard isn't happy with these speculations, especially since none of those reports came directly from him. He said so as much in a recent interview with reporters, noting that he always mean what he says.
“You can criticize how I play or who I am as a player, that’s one thing. But who I am as a person and the things that I say, I mean them. That’s one thing that I stand on and I know people can’t challenge me on that,” Lillard said, per Blazers Twitter.
While Damian Lillard didn't specifically mention about what report he's talking about, it is possible he's addressing the recent piece from Adrian Wojnarowski detailing how he could present major challenges for Portland with his desire to get a two-year, $107 million extension.
Per Woj:

Lillard wants a two-year, $107 million extension in July, and he and his agent need the next general manager to sell ownership on the idea. As much as anything, this cuts to the core of the Blazers' search process. His desire for an extension into his advanced NBA years has turned into a battle for the franchise's future, an existential threat to reshaping and redirecting the organization in a post-playoff reality.
For what it's worth, Lillard has already called out the said report, hinting that he won't be surprised if former Blazers GM Neil Olshey had a part in what Woj wrote.
Lillard has been one of the most loyal players in the NBA, and he certainly has nothing but love for the franchise that has supported him since coming to the league. With that said, considering his desire to win, it is undoubtedly surprising that he would put the team in a difficult situation.
Then again, fans can probably expect to hear it directly from Lillard whether reports are true or not.
