The Portland Trail Blazers are committing to Norman Powell. After trading for him during the 2020-21 season, they have now re-signed him to a new five-year deal.

According to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports, Powell's long-term deal is worth $90 million. The 28-year-old swingman declined his $11.6 million player option last month, and now, he got about a $7 million increase per year.

The Blazers acquired Norman Powell from the Toronto Raptors in a deadline deal that sent Gary Trent Jr. and Rodney Hood to the Canada-based franchise. He has been spectacular since joining Portland, averaging 17.0 points, 3.3 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1,.3 steals per game.

At 28 years old, Powell is deemed as a key player in the Blazers' title aspirations and keeping him is just one of Portland's ways to make Damian Lillard happy. However, there is still a lot of work to be done if the team wants to build a contender.

Aside from Powell, the team also signed Cody Zeller in free agency. While not a big name, he is viewed as a slight upgrade over Zach Collins.

It remains to be seen what other moves the Blazers will make, but so far, not a lot of big-name players remain in the market after a wild start to Monday's free agency.
