In heartbreaking news, Portland Trail Blazers and Seattle Seahawks owner Paul Allen has announced that he's once again battling non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. He successfully fought off the disease in 2009. Allen announced the return of the disease via his Twitter, where he said:

“Recently, I learned the non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma I battled in 2009 has returned. I’ve begun treatment & my doctors are optimistic that I will see a good result. Appreciate the support I’ve received & count on it as I fight this challenge.”

This is terrible news, but he has beaten this once and we are all rooting for him to pull through once again. He wrote about this new challenge on PaulAllen.com where he said:

“I am very grateful for the support I’ve received from my family and friends. And I’ve appreciated the support of everyone on the teams and in the broader community in the past, and count on that support now as I fight this challenge.

“Go Seahawks! Go Blazers!”

He also stated that his doctors are optimistic and he feels strongly about his chances to see good results. Cancer touches all of us because we all know someone who has battled some form of the deadly disease. Sports fans all across America will be pulling for Allen to make a full recovery.
