The Portland Trail Blazers have added more depth to their backcourt as they have signed Wade Baldwin IV for the remainder of the season. The development was reported by Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, that his contract has now been upgraded to a standard one, after initially signing a two-way deal with the team to start the season.

The 21-year-old Vanderbilt product has only played in one game so far this season for the Blazers, seeing action in only three minutes at the end of blowout victory against the New York Knicks just last week, finishing with one point and one rebound. He suffered a thumb injury back in October and had to immediately undergo injury to repair it, which stalled his season.

Baldwin has spent majority of the season with the Texas Legends of the G-League, where he has suited up for them in 17 games, and has averaged impressive numbers of 18.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 2.2 steals in 33.8 minutes. That has proven to be enough for the Blazers to decide to add him to their roster for the remainder of the season, including the playoffs.

The 6-foot-4 guard was the 17th overall pick in the 2016 draft by the Memphis Grizzlies and has played in 34 NBA games throughout his two-year pro career. He is not expected to see a lot of minutes for the Blazers, but if given some playing time, should be his chance to prove that he belongs to play at the highest level, and an opportunity for him to secure a long-term contract this summer.
