Portland Trail Blazers veteran Carmelo Anthony just brought back a throwback look to training camp. The 10-time All-Star showed up at camp rocking the cornrows, the hairstyle he wore until 2008.
Blazers players certainly enjoyed seeing the veteran back with his vintage look:

Carmelo Anthony hasn't worn the braids in over a decade, so this must be a welcome sight for all hoops fans. Certainly, this brings back a lot of memories when a young and electric Carmelo Anthony, then playing with the Denver Nuggets, was lighting up the league with his incandescent scoring.

Melo can certainly still fill up the box score once in a while, and that's something that he could still provide Portland in his age-36 campaign. However, Anthony will be doing so as a reserve, as head coach Terry Stotts envisions the veteran as a nice scoring spark off the bench. Newcomers Robert Covington and Derrick Jones Jr. are slated to start at the forward spots this season, at least to begin the year.
This will be a role that Carmelo Anthony isn't accustomed to, and he admitted he needed āto swallow that pillā of not being a starter. Nonetheless, the six-time All-NBA forward has committed to the role and is looking forward to help the Blazers succeed this year.
The Blazers made solid offseason acquisitions and signings. As mentioned, they reloaded their wing depth by acquiring Robert Covington from the Houston Rockets and signing former Miami Heat forward Derrick Jones Jr. They also brought Rodney Hood back and added former big man Enes Kanter as a backup center for Jusuf Nurkic.
Of course, retaining Carmelo Anthony at the minimum was a huge win for them as they keep an experienced scorer in their bench unit.
