Supporters of the Portland Trail Blazers were not exactly over the moon during their team's disappointing loss against a 19-43 Atlanta Hawks side on Saturday. This was not the case for one Carmelo Anthony superfan, though, whose once-in-a-lifetime moment with his idol in Indiana recently went viral.
Said fan went on NBC Sports Northwest to share what was going through his mind during that unforgettable moment, and why it meant so much to him:

The sheer joy in his eyes is already enough to tell the story behind this moment, but how this fan shared that he has been a Melo supporter ever since the 10-time All-Star was in high school only makes this narrative even more endearing.
Article Continues BelowAnthony had a pretty forgettable evening against the Hawks, though, finishing with 12 points on 5-of-13 shooting to along with six rebounds, two assists, and a 3-pointer in 37 minutes of action. The Blazers had no answer to the pairing of Trae Young and John Collins, who combined for 49 points, 14 rebounds, 19 assists, and four triples on the evening.
Despite his rather disappointing performance, however, Anthony has been stellar for Portland ever since he signed with them in mid-November. In 45 appearances for the Blazers, the 35-year-old veteran is averaging 15.4 points (on 42.0 percent shooting), 6.4 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 0.8 steals, and 0.5 blocks while also knocking down 1.4 3-pointers on a 35.9 percent clip.
Anthony is far from the prime Melo we grew to idolize, but he will still have an important role to play for the Blazers this season as they hope to make one final push for a playoff spot in a ruthless Western Conference.
