Portland Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard often lets his game do the talking. His road to the NBA was unconventional, playing for a relatively smaller college in Weber State.
The man has always had an enormous chip on his shoulder and plays like it as well. Lillard's on-court success is motivated by a number of things off the court. This you can tell from the Damian's tattoos.
Lillard shared the secrets of his tattoos in an interview with GQ sports.
We're here to take a look at each one to get to know Damian Lillard and his ink a lot better.
Damian Lillard's First Tattoo

Damian got this first tattoo at the ripe age of 18, as his mother only allowed him to get one after he had graduated from high school.
His first tattoo is a dedication to the bond he has with his brother, Houston. The tattoo says LB, short for Lillard Brothers, in the same fashion as Warner Brothers‘ famous WB logo.
Houston Lillard played a different sport from his younger brother. Houston first played at the junior college level for Laney College, before earning an athletic scholarship to play for Southeast Missouri State.
He now coaches high school football, serving as the head coach for Jefferson High School in Portland.
Damian Lillard's Fly Guy Tattoo

Lillard's second tattoo seems a little more playful than the first. It's an insignia marked CF which Damian says stands for Certified Fly Guy. Around the letters are a set of wings as well.
I doubt Damian Lillard will get a lot of arguments about his status as a CFG around the league.
Article Continues BelowDame, his brother, and their friends apparently all got the same tattoo, and would call each other certified fly. One of those friends, as Damian shares, was former NFL wide receiver Stevie Johnson. Johnson played in the NFL for eight solid seasons.
Damian Lillard's Bible Verse Tattoo

Lillard's third go around with getting inked came on the opposite arm. After getting his first two on his dominant side, Dame felt that his off arm was feeling a little left out.
There he decided to get a tattoo which covered most of his upper left arm.
The exact tattoo was inspired during one of his visits to a church. He shared that one of the scriptures highlighted in the venue was a specific text from the bible that struck him. On his arm he had inserted that exact bible verse, Psalm 37 1-6, etched permanently on his left side.
The passage reads as follows:
1 Do not fret because of those who are evil
or be envious of those who do wrong;
2 for like the grass they will soon wither,
like green plants they will soon die away.
3 Trust in the Lord and do good;
dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
4 Take delight in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.
5 Commit your way to the Lord;
trust in him and he will do this:
6 He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn,
your vindication like the noonday sun.
The verse means a lot to Damian Lillard, who believes that it represents his own unheralded path to the NBA.
Damian Lillard's Mom + Sister Tattoo

Beyond the tattoo for his brother, Damian also has a couple of them in dedication for the women in his life.
Lillard has the name of his mother Gina on his left arm and his sister LaNae etched on his right arm.
Lillard's Homage to Oakland PGs

On the back sides of both of his arms, he had two torches etched with his name on it.
The torch is labeled with Oakland PGs, which pays tribute to the other great point guards who came out of Oakland, California. Guys like Gary Payton, Jason Kidd, and Brian Shaw are just a few guards who, like Dame, came out from the area.
The torch tattoos serve as a reminder for him as the current standard bearer in the league for his old stomping grounds.
The Oakland Tree Tattoo

Damian Lillard wasn't content with just the torches to represent his love for Oakland. On his chest, he had the iconic Oakland tree symbol put in.
As Dame shares, the sign is a beloved one that can be seen throughout the city itself.
The Dame Time Tattoo

What better tattoo would there be for Damian Lillard than an actual clock?
The founder of Dame Time himself, Lillard has had more than his fair share of clutch moments. He never fails to remind everyone what time it is when he hits a big shot.
The clock is there for the world to see, but more often than not Lillard will remind us with his actual play whenever the clock strikes Dame.
Clearly the Blazers' franchise star has a lot that he plays for. His tattoos paint the picture of a player that stays motivated and hungry despite an already successful career.
