After two years in San Antonio, forward LaMarcus Aldridge might be going back to his original NBA team, the Portland Trail Blazers. The Spurs are reportedly looking to enter the top-10 of the upcoming draft and are willing to offer their All-Star forward in return.

As Jabari Young from the Express-News reports, one of the interested teams is the Blazers. Portland has three first round selections, but none of them are in the top 10. However, there are reports that Portland is contacting the Timberwolves about a possible trade for the 7th pick. While the original report stated that they want that pick to select Gonzaga center Zach Collins, the lure of their former player might be too much to pass up on.

Aldridge signed a four-year, $80 million contract with the Spurs in the summer of 2015. While he has been an All-Star as a Spur, he might not have what it takes to help San Antonio contend with the powerhouse Warriors.

Trading Aldridge, who is 32, would give head coach Gregg Popovich and GM RC Buford the ability to draft one more young stud to help the Spurs contend for titles over the long haul. Also, with this deal, the Spurs would open up a lot of salary cap space needed to pursue key free agents this summer.

The Blazers, on the other hand, would be a surefire playoff team with Aldridge added to the current roster. With three possible All-Stars in the aforementioned Aldridge, C.J. McCollum, and Damian Lillard, plus a key starter in Jusuf Nurkic, the Blazers would likely contend for a top-four playoff spot in the West.

It is unknown whether the Blazers contacted the Spurs initially, as well as what other players could be included in the deal.
