The NBA and Game of Thrones, perhaps the two popular dramas currently playing on televisions near you, careened into one another via Fox Sports’ Jason Whitlock on an April 24 episode of Speak For Yourself. In the segment, Whitlock explored the recently completed Oklahoma City Thunder with Russell Westbrook versus the Portland Trail Blazers in which Damian Lillard cemented himself as one of the best point guards in the NBA, as well as one of the most clutch players in recent memory.
"Game 5 Thunder-Blazers said more about Russell Westbrook than Dame Lillard. Dame slayed the Triple Double King, the NBA's King Joffrey."@WhitlockJason compares Game 5 to Game of Thrones pic.twitter.com/EmPSJi34kU

Lillard outdueled Westbrook and even drilled a ridiculous game-winning three-pointer as time expired. In Game of Thrones parlance, the Thunder were holed up in Winterfell, severely outnumbered with no help on the horizon.

Lillard served as the Night King, swooping in coolly and calmly to end the Thunder’s season and resurrect his own team, much like the Night King resurrected Viserion, Daenerys Targaryen’s dragon.
In the Whitlock clip, he compares Russ to King Joffrey, a petty, spoiled brat whose behavior ended up with him (spoiler alert for long-past GoT season) getting poisoned.
Though I don’t think Brodie will be slipped poison in the locker room anytime soon, his showboating and boastful behavior has certainly not gained him any friends on the Trail Blazers.
