De’Aaron Fox has made his intentions with the Sacramento Kings clear. In his interview stating,
“That’s definitely what I want to do, change the culture of the city,” Fox told The Vertical. “Help this team get wins, get to the playoffs. Try to get back to the conference finals, try to win championships here.”
Although that seems like an obvious goal for any player, the Kings haven't made the playoffs since the 2006 NBA Season, and have been a perennial 30 win team for the past decade. However, the Kings did select very well in the most recent draft. Selecting sharpshooter and NCAA Champion Justin Jackson, Naismith Player of the Year Frank Mason III, and Harry Giles, who didn't see much action in college but has potential to be a solid big man and projects good numbers in starter minutes.
Article Continues BelowWhile it seems almost laughable to mention playoffs and Sacramento Kings in the same sentence, especially considering their history and how much stronger the Western Conference has gotten this offseason, they have assembled a solid group of young talent that should make them a playoff threat for a very long time. They have a leader in Buddy Hield who played very well towards the end of the season, averaging 15 points and shooting 43% from downtown after being traded to Sacramento, and Skal Labissiere, who had a 32 -point game during the season.
De'Aaron is 19 years old and will turn 20 on December 20th, they have a very young core which they will most likely build around. De'Aaron's plans may have to wait though, Sacramento isn't in a position to contend with Golden State and will mostly likely wait them out. While the Kings may not make the playoffs for a couple more seasons, it is encouraging to see a young talent who already knows what he wants to achieve in his career.
