As expected, Sacramento Kings guard Buddy Hield will participate in this year's 3-point shootout happening at the All-Star weekend in Charlotte.

Buddy Hield has been one of the most prolific 3-point shooters this season, making 46.0 percent of his shots from beyond the arc. He's having a breakout year as the leader of the Kings, posting averages of 20.2 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.2 assists while shooting 47.9 percent from the field.

The 26-year-old guard's most notable performance this season was when he went head-to-head with Steph Curry back on January 6. Hield shot 8-for-13 while Curry shot 10-20 from deep in a historic night that saw both the Kings and the Golden State Warriors combine to shoot 41 triples.

Although Sacramento lost 127-123, it was in that game that Hield earned his reputation as one of the best shooters in the league.

Now, he will have a chance to prove that once again during the 3-point shootout.

He will be joined by Curry, as he was also invited to participate in the said event. Other confirmed participants are Portland Trail Blazers guards Damian Lillard and Seth Curry and Dallas Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki.

Three more names are set to be announced.

Among the five, Steph and Dirk have already won the 3-point shootout in the past. Nowitzki won it in 2006, while Curry notched the title back in 2014.

Hield, Seth and Lillard will all be making their first-ever appearance in the 3-point shootout.
