The Sacramento Kings have been one of the teams consistently mentioned as a Ben Simmons trade suitor, and the Philadelphia 76ers discussed the idea of a trade involving Simmons and De'Aaron Fox earlier this week, according to Yahoo Sports' Chris Haynes.

Haynes notes, however, that the ā€œdialogue remains exploratory due diligence.ā€ The report also states that while the Kings have received plenty of trade interest in Fox and fellow guard Tyrese Haliburton, ā€œtheĀ internal plan is to build around those two cornerstones in the backcourt rather than shipping them out.ā€

Still, nobody on the Kings is truly untouchable. With his name popping in trade rumors, Fox recently addressed the matter with Haynes:

ā€œYou definitely think about potentially being traded because we are struggling,ā€ Fox told Yahoo Sports after leading the Kings with 29 points in a 125-116 victoryover the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday night. ā€œIf you do have a change of scenery, it changes everything. I’ve been here for five years. I’ve built a life here, a family here. But once I’m on the court, all that is out the window. You’re not thinking about anything else that can happen outside of your control. But I’ve been through some deadlines. I’ve seen people get traded at the last second. You try not to think about it, but you know it’s a business and anything can happen. I’m not sure what’s going to happen. Obviously, you see reports on Twitter. Am I worried about it? No. Can it happen? Yeah, it can definitely happen.ā€

The Kings star went on to say that he's not asking for a trade and that he loves playing in Sacramento for such a passionate fan base. While the team is struggling, Fox is focused on turning things around and will try to tune out the trade rumors the best he can, even if it can be difficult. He acknowledges that the NBA is a business and anything can happen.

The Kings are 17-27 and sitting in 11th place in the Western Conference. The 24-year-old Fox's performance has dipped this season after a career campaign in 2020-21, averaging 20.9 points, 5.1 assists and 3.7 rebounds while shooting 45.2% overall and 24.3% from 3-point range. Last season, he posted numbers of 25.2 points, 7.2 assists and 3.5 rebounds per game while shooting 47.7% from the field and 32.2% from 3.
