Sacramento Kings guard Buddy Hield was the subject of many trade rumors this past NBA offseason. Some of the rumors and reports concerned Hield and a potential trade to the Los Angeles Lakers, with talks between the two teams even progressing to the point of potential offers being put on the table. However, the Lakers traded for then-Washington Wizards guard Russell Westbrook and Hield stayed put in Sacramento. After the Lakers' 122-114 win over the Kings on Tuesday, Hield spoke about how he was nearly dealt to the Lakers.
Did it feel close that Hield would play for the Lakers?
“It did,” Hield said. “Talking to my agents and the media, of course. The media knows more than the agent and team, basically. But it didn’t happen. So, I’m still here. I’m still in the league and have an opportunity to play basketball. That’s the fun about it.”

Article Continues BelowHowever, it's interesting to hear Hield say that it “felt close” that he would play for the Lakers, who were rumored to be close to sending Kyle Kuzma and Montrezl Harrell to the Kings in exchange for the Sacramento sharpshooter.
While it's interesting to think about how close Kings star Buddy Hield came to being traded to the Lakers, or how well he would fit in Los Angeles, it's not something the former Oklahoma star thinks about.
As Hield said, he's still in the league and still has an opportunity to play basketball.
