The incident Matt Barnes was involved in last Sunday in a NYC nightclub has taken another important development.

Authorities are reportedly now closing in on an arrest for the Sacramento Kings‘ wingman just days after he allegedly choked a woman inside the club and punched a man who tried to break up the argument. This comes after the complainants, Jasmine Besiso and her boyfriend Myrone Powell, sued Barnes and his teammate, DeMarcus Cousins, for their roles in the scuffle.

Police talked about what they found out during their investigation and the possible charges Barnes will face.

“They've got enough to charge Barnes with an assault on a woman. It will probably be a misdemeanor assault on one of the females who was pushed or choked or sustained some sort of injury. She's obviously cooperating.”

“They looked at several people inside the club. There were some people struck by bottles but that didn't seem to come from the players. There was a little bit of a mini free for all.”

Pictures of the couple were also posted online by the New York Daily News showing Powell with a black eye resulting from Barnes' apparent punch.

Barnes has not made a public appearance or posted anything on social media since taking to Instagram a day after the incident reminding everyone that there are two sides to every story.

This is certainly the distraction the Kings do not need especially after another slow start to their season. They are currently ranked 10th in the Western Conference with an 8-13 record and need Barnes and Cousins in their lineup with clear minds to help them string some wins together and make a push for a playoff spot as the season progresses.
