SAN FRANCISCO — The Golden Warriors are losing another key member to the team, but this time there is no need to panic. Lead assistant coach Mike Brown just got hired to be the next head coach of the Sacramento Kings. While a loss for the Warriors, it is also a joyful occasion for Steve Kerr and the rest of the team.
“I don't even know where to begin,” Kerr told ClutchPoints. “What Mike has done for me, for this organization in his six years here, he's made just an incredible contribution. He's an amazing coach and an amazing friend, and Sacramento made a great choice. I'm so thrilled for Mike and his family. It's a loss for us, but this is how it's supposed to work.”
Whenever a new wrinkle on the defensive side of the ball happens for the Warriors, Brown is the mastermind behind it. Over the last six seasons, Kerr has trusted him to make the adjustments he felt were necessary, and the team has had a tremendous amount of success. This season, the Warriors have one of the best defensive teams in the NBA, and players always mention Brown as a central reason for their accomplishments.

This will be Brown’s fourth shot as a head coach. He had two different stints with the Cleveland Cavaliers (one with LeBron James and one without), as well as a short tenure with the Los Angeles Lakers. He will finish the playoffs with the Warriors, and after that, he will head to Sacramento to get settled in with his new squad.
“Mike's ready to do this again,” Kerr said. “He's excited and we're thrilled for him. It's much deserved, and he's a great choice.”
