In what could turn out to be San Antonio Spurs guard Manu Ginobili‘s last NBA game, Gregg Popovich pulled him out of the contest with 2:23 left in the fourth quarter, as the Golden State Warriors were already leading by 17 points at that time.
The 39-year-old Argentinian international made his way to the bench in the midst of a standing ovation from the sold out AT&T Center crowd chanting his name. The veteran head coach then decided to ask him if he wanted to re-enter the game to play out the final minutes, and cap off his stellar career by staying on the court, but Ginobili brushed him off quickly and did not take his offer.
Truly a classic Manu and Pop moment.

Ginobili spent his entire 15-year NBA career with the Spurs and won four championships with them. He was also named a two-time All-Star to go along with being a member of the All-NBA Third Team twice.
He may not have had the storybook ending to his illustrious career, if he indeed calls it quits, as his team got swept by the Warriors, but he already made it known that the result of this year's playoffs will not be a factor on his retirement decision.
Manu Ginobili is expected to make that decision this summer, but whatever it may be, he will still go down as one of the best international players of all-time, and will leave a legacy that will be difficult to surpass.
