The Kawhi Leonard saga is likely to continue idle until July 1, when the San Antonio Spurs will either offer him a supermax deal or choose to start negotiations with other teams in hopes to get something back for his services.
Teammate Danny Green had expressed complete confidence a couple of weeks ago, saying Leonard was committed to being a Spur — he doubled down on his take over the weekend.
“I just put out what I know, and that’s not much. I talk to (Leonard) as much as I can, but I don’t talk to him that much as a whole,” said Green, according to Jabari Young of the San Antonio Express-News. “He stresses the same thing to me as he stresses to (the media). There is no news. He says he wants to be a Spur and retire there. He said that to you. He’s expressed that. When I talked to him, he says he’s been with us, he’s always on board with us and (wanted) to be a part of what we did, and he’s trying to get right. But things may change.”

Green is one of the closest players to Leonard, mostly because of their closeness in age within a roster full of aging veterans, but it seems like Leonard is just as meek and distant with him as he has been with the media, saying just enough.
Ultimately, Leonard's destination is in the franchise's hands, still unable to take on a player-option until the next offseason, with a trade being the desperate measure in case things don't work out between the two sides.
