Kawhi Leonard is deeply considering making an appearance for Team USA's minicamp this following week, as one of the 35 players called up to define the first set of cuts for the impending international tournament. This potential decision has had front offices on their toes for a potential sighting.

The San Antonio Spurs estranged star has yet to be seen in action since playing the last of nine games against the Denver Nuggets on Jan. 13, when he dropped 19 points in 28 minutes, propelling the Spurs to a 32-point win.

Up to nine teams have expressed formal interest in the star since they found out Leonard requested a trade from the Spurs, making this a potential pivotal showing that could re-ignite interest in trading for him after talks have mostly died down.

Per ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski and Ramona Shelburne:

“There's an eagerness among prospective teams to see Leonard on the floor before committing significant trade assets to him. Rival executives considered Leonard a top five player in the NBA prior to last season, but he didn't play to that level in his brief nine-game regular season return as he continued to recover from the quadriceps injury.”

Most trade talks have been deemed “flat-out unacceptable” by the Spurs, given that teams have mostly bundled future assets with no immediate return for the star.

There are two reasons for that — the first is concern for Leonard's health, as the diagnosis of his quad injury was what started this issue with the Spurs to begin with. The 27-year-old only played in nine games last season, still looking a shadow of himself.

Teams have been concerned that the info put out by his camp of him being 100 percent healthy is compromised, but the Spurs won't share any medical information with anyone until there's a trade agreement in place.

The second revolves around Leonard being willing to commit to staying with the team that trades for him, which could prove difficult — but teams will be more likely to make a more substantial offer if he proves close to being the top-five star he was a couple of years ago.
