San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich recently made it abundantly clear which side he's on in the highly-polarizing debate involving NFL star Colin Kaepernick and his unwavering protests against racism.
According to the 70-year-old coach, he greatly admires Kaepernick's actions, and believes that he is blazing the trail for the fight against racism, particularly in the field of professional sports.
“He was very courageous in what he did,” Popovich said of Kaepernick before a game against the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday night, via Marc J. Spears of The Undefeated. “He did it for the right reasons. I think the same story will unwind as time goes on.”
While Pop strongly believes that Kaepernick's actions will eventually be etched in the history books, it was a rather forgettable evening for coach Popovich and his Spurs side on Wednesday, in the basketball sense.

The Spurs were absolutely blown out by the defending champs after a furious third quarter run that saw the Dubs score 49 points to put the game out of reach. The Warriors were led by the heroics of Klay Thompson who almost could not miss on the evening. The All-Star shooting guard went 11-of-13 from the field for a game-high 26 points. The lopsided contest ended 141-102 in favor of the Warriors.
As for the Spurs, they had to battle the Dubs without both DeMar DeRozan and LaMarcus Aldridge. Coach Pop decided that this was going to be the ideal date to give his two best players their maintenance days.
San Antonio are on a back-to-back set, and are slated to take on the Portland Trail Blazers on Thursday, as they look to bounce back from a humiliating defeat at the hands of the champions.
